If your online, and in this business to make money, then we must talk about some of the things that will make the difference between a successful or failed marketing campaign. In the search engine optimization circles, we've all heard the saying "Content is King". If this is so, and it is, then why would anyone waste their time and efforts on doing anything other than providing well written, authoritative content for their web site. It makes total sense then, to write good copy with relevant keywords and keyword phrases strategically positioned within your sites content. Good keyword rich content will also draw quality links, back links and reciprocal links to your site.
The search engines, place an incredible amount of weight on the quality of the links in your site. Be very particular, on who you link to. Be very selective on reciprocal links, from sites that have no connection with the product or service that you're marketing.
You will gain some page rank with the search engines, just by linking your site to other sites, other sites linking to your sites, and link exchanging, however, don't become obsessed just with linking in your marketing strategies. There are many small sites, that will draw more traffic than a high page rank site, because of how the site is structured. Don't blame anyone but yourself, if other site with a lower page rank are actually converting some of your clients into sales for themselves. Why are they getting the conversions, and your not? Because they have used page ranking, as only one factor of their overall marketing strategy. You must incorporate many different factors of search engine optimization in your marketing campaign to see good, consistent results. Good page ranking is great for web site popularity, however, it may have little to do with generating traffic to your web site.
Don't be afraid to change your web site on a regular basis to make your site more effective. Make your keyword rich content, fresh and exciting. New content is what the search engine robots are looking for. The search engines loves new content, and will reward you with good rankings for your efforts. Just remember, it must be relative to your business opportunity, not just some off the wall information.
Keyword phrases can be very helpful in moving your site higher with the search engines. Most people don't just search for one word at a time. Users will incorporate several keywords into their query in order to obtain a more specific result from the search engines. Ex: If you searched for "hot dogs", you would get a very general response of hot dogs in general. However, if you would query "best hog dog in Chicago" you would get a very specific result. Use a combination of keywords and keyword phrases for best results.
When building your site, keep in mind the process of what we refer to in the business as "localization". People has a tendency to search for much of their online needs, in their local area. You can get very specific here, by focusing specific pages in your site to a particular City, County or State. By doing this type of laser focused marketing, you will see some good results rather quickly, compared to promoting with a broad brush approach strategy.
There are a number of different things you can include in your site, that will make the users come back often. You may want to include some items such as; a map with a description of how to get to your business, a couple of pictures of your business, or your friendly staff, and place some text links strategically within your content. Don't over do your site with a lot of pictures, maps or other non important things, that is not relevant to your business opportunity. These things are for the benefit of the potential clients. The search engines do not recognize pictures, maps of java script....only good key word rich content. As you can see from this example, you must have a good balance between information for the consumers, as well as a having your site optimized for the search engines.
It's important, to always keep search engine optimization tactics, in the fore front, when designing your web site. Don't be fooled by some who say that paid advertisements, is the only way to promote. It's not the only way. Construction of your site to be search engine friendly, will get you organic (not paid for ads) positions that will be much more effective. A well constructed web site without all the flash, scrolling text, and pictures, will be more effective with the search engines than a site with a lot of glitz and glitter.
Using keywords in the URL's and meta tags will help improve your rankings with the search engines. Before you go live with your site, make sure you have spell checked you entire site. Make sure, you have constructed your site with the proper grammar. Make sure all links, are live and referring the users to the page you intend for them to go to. Make sure you put a snippet of code behind your links, that will bring the customer back to your home page, when the user clicks off the link you pointed them to.
There's an incredible number of sites on the internet, that may be marketing the same or, similar product or service as you are. The user is going to choose the site, that best described the solutions, for their immediate needs. The site with the best information for the user, as well as being search engine friendly constructed, will be the winner.
